Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and analytical Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the finance team in maintaining the company’s financial health. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting, financial analysis and general accounting principles. - Assists with review of accounts payable and accounts receivable invoicing.
- Oversee and assists with monthly reconciliation of vendor statements.
- Manages weekly vendor payment processing and remittance reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger which includes the preparation of journal entries, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Prepares weekly and monthly commission files
- Prepares, files, pays and journalizes sales tax.
- Assists in the preparation and processing of 1099s and W2s.
- Maintains License and Permits for facilities and entities
- Maintain and document business processes and accounting policies to remain in compliance and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist with the preparation of documents for internal and external audits.
- Analyze costs of production, materials, and labor specific to jobs in detail.
- Utilize software such as Caterease, QuickBooks, Excel, Outlook, Bill.com, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data for budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assist the VP of Finance with overseeing the financial health of the business.
- Ad-hoc project completion and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Adapts to new business opportunities and contributes to process development/improvement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in an accounting role (preferably in the hospitality or catering industry).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Experience in cost accounting or similar role.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position in office.
- May require occasional travel between all locations
- Flexible working hours will be required during peak seasons (e.g., holidays, special events).
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to meet deadlines or assist with special projects.
